The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

To receive continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit(s), participants must attend an activity in its entirety and evaluate the activity on the ASCP Professional Development CEnter within 30 days of the activity (by May 12, 2016). No partial credit will be given. To access the evaluation, participants must enter the CPE code for the educational activity. The CPE code will be announced during the activity introduction. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.

  1. Explore and differentiate the components of cannabinoids and learn how they may be useful in palliative care.
  2. Summarize key potential health benefits of marijuana use.
  3. Discuss possible health risks of marijuana use, and examine best options for counseling patients on these potential adverse effects.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Distinguish between value-based reimbursement and other reimbursement models, and discuss how evolving reimbursement models can change the ways in which pharmacy services may be provided in the future.
  2. Explore value-based reimbursement opportunities by learning about the CMS Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative and the impact on patient outcomes and business practice development.
  3. Discuss the challenges of attaining electronic system interoperability while maintaining appropriate personal health information privacy.
  4. Examine pharmacy practice opportunities and develop strategies to address the economic challenges of providing specialty medications in the long term care setting.
  5. Describe the CMS Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) Demonstration Project, and operational challenges to implementation of a BPCI program.
  6. Identify strategies to improve efficiency and clinical care using the principles of BPCI.

Florida Consultant Pharmacists

The 2016 ASCP Forum has been approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for consultant pharmacist recertification credits. Participants must attend both days or Day 2 to receive recertification credits. CE Broker #: 20-546098.

Nursing Home Administrators

The 2016 ASCP Forum is approved through the Beacon Institute for 5 hours of continuing education credits for nursing home administrators by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long-Term Care Administrators (NAB). Participants must attend Day 2 to receive credits.
